Just a Les Sack got a few laughs reading the letters regarding the shutdown of the informal use of Costa Bella by dog owners, I am saddened by his reaction.
I understand the points he makes. Personally, I get upset by parents who cannot or will not put limits on their children in public.
But Les' letter (March 7) also makes me wonder: Would those of us who live in Arroyo Grande and volunteer at the Exploration Station not do so, as the primary recipients of our efforts are Grover Beach children? This is a ludicrous and facetious question, but I use it to illustrate that we are all affected by each other, our attitudes, actions and inaction and will do better with greater tolerance, empathy and love for each other as we live in ever-increasing density.
The March 3 Viewpoints prompted me to join the Five Cities Dog Park Association, because seniors and others who found socialization were now being denied this by Grover Beach's decision to strictly enforce leash laws. I hope that Les and his wife and many others will join, rather than just sit on the sidelines and chuckle at a clearly articulated need.
As Five Cities residents, we are all neighbors and stakeholders in our future.
