Faithful doggie wants bark park

To the Editor:

My name is Mr. Big. I am a friendly Pomeranian. Recently, the human beings I live with have been sad. They miss their friends at the “unofficial” dog park in Grover Beach. I do my best to cheer them up. I listen to them, give them affection, do tricks and wake them up.

We used to enjoy the dog park. Now it’s empty and unused. Grover Beach has enough money to pay a police officer to give tickets but not to enclose this water basin to keep us safe.

Volunteers offered to pay to have the site enclosed, but the City Council won’t do it. Did I point out that all the humans pick up after us?

I’ll keep trying to cheer my humans up. All I ask is one meal a day and a place to run. I will get out of condition if I don’t exercise. My humans are too slow to keep up with me on a leash, and they are not up to driving the long round-trip to the nice dog parks in Santa Maria, Nipomo, San Luis Obispo and Atascadero.

If all those other places can have dog parks, why can’t we? Please help.

A faithful doggie,

Mr. Big
